About Majestic Landscapes Photography/Kevin Brisolara

Majestic Landscapes Photography is the photography of Kevin Brisolara, who is a outdoor enthusiast that enjoys exploring wilderness areas and photographing these majestic places. He primarily photographs in the Pacific Northwest, with a focus in Oregon & Washington. Many of his photographs are in areas that very few people visit and explore. Kevin first took up photography as a young teenager to help capture some beautiful areas that he frequently visited and to share those experiences with others. He grew up in the Chicago area, but was always fascinated with the grandeur of the Western United States. His adventures brought him out west to Eugene, Oregon where he visits and explores many wilderness areas to photograph them and bring part of the wilderness back in the form of prints to show others the beauty and the grandeur that still exists in our fast passed and developing world.

His passion for the outdoors and photography is evident with the high quality in his photorgraphs and prints, which he goes to great lengths to capture, usually hiking and backpacking for miles to remote locations to get the best shot. When going out on a shoot, he is on location long before the sun is up so he can prepare, compose and wait for the best lighting available. His dedication and passion for landscape photography has brought him closer to the natural world, always trying to learn and understand why nature is the way that it is. Kevin is always looking for new wilderness areas to explore and photograph. Why does he go to great lengths to get a couple of shots? Kevin: "I love the outdoors and the landscapes that surround me, to be able to see these majestic beautiful landscapes in person, they give me a sense of peace, they are awe inspiring to witness first hand. I enjoy the peace and solitude that you get being out in nature. When I print out a photograph for the first time and show it to someone, I get great pleasure in seeing their reaction to a beautiful landscape."

My Equipment

The Camera that I currently use is a Nikon D200. I have various Nikkor Lenses that I use. The most common lens that I use is the Nikkor 12-24mm. I use a tripod with every shot, making sure to always have a sharp image, this a must. I also use various filters, such as a 67mm & 77 mm B+W Polarizers, 1 stop, 2 stop and 3 stop Graduated Neutral Density Filters by Singh Ray.

Something Else/Photography Tips

Are you a photography enthusiast? Do you like going out and taking photographs, but are not pleased with the results? Here are a couple of tips for those of you that would like to take better photographs. The most important thing is to be at the location when the lighting is at its best, which is very early in the morning before or during sunrise. Late in the evening is another great time to photograph as the sun is setting or already has set. You don't need the best equipment to get great shots. Shoot when the sun is at your back or to the sides of you. Shooting during the middle of the day is not the best time to do photography, unless there is overcast and when you do this, dont include the sky in your shots (usually). When shooting with the sky in the shot, use a Graduated Neutral Density Filter, this will bring the sky in correct exposure with the landscape. I use 2-3 stop Graduated Neutral Density (ND) Filters by Singh Ray for this. I also use a polarizer, which will also help bring the colors out and darken the sky. It will also cut glare off of water surfaces, windows and metallic surfaces. I hope these tips will help you take better photographs. GOOD LUCK with your photography.
